Xane Bowen 13 of Murwillumbah competed at the Triathlon National Youth Series Race weekend at Runaway Bay The event consisted of 4 races over 3 days including a 1500m run on the track, ‘Hyper Sprint’ Triathlon 200Swim/4K Bike/ 800 Run, Aquathlon 400 Swim/1200 Run and the Final Ultra Triathlon which was 300 Swim 6k Bike and 1200 Run. Xane sits a the lower age end of his 13-16 Youth Category but proved himself very competitive with the breakthrough performances. In the final race Xane laid down a remarkable run – Attacking 4 other competitors early in the piece holding his position was a gutsy display which included withstanding a sprint finish duel. It’s the first time I’ve seen him believe in himself at the back end of a race. He’s come along way and this performance is a real progress step he needed to make. Xane finished the 4 Stage event in 20th place overall on time out of 52 competitors. 7th from NSW. With age on his side its going to fuel hime to work towards competing in the entire 3 race series next season with events in Tasmania and Canberra.
